Inked
The works I produce are the results of constant observation of nature. I enjoy looking hard into trees and plants and seeing the textures that barks and leaves and lichens provide for inspiration.
The textures of barks and leaves fascinate me - their structure and formation, never finding two pieces exactly the same. I think too there is some strong influences of the moods of nature, and perhaps how those moods affect us, both as individuals and as communities.
Spicy Thai Design
I have always enjoyed watching cartoons and movies from an early age. At the end of each movie I would often sit down and recreate the characters myself. This has not changed and in fact has grown and become a strong passion of mine.
I invite you to come along and experience my world through my upcoming exhibition. This is where I pay tribute to the imagery that has influenced my life and my art but with a Thai twist.
Leviathan
Nick Keller is a senior concept designer at Weta Workshop having worked on major film productions such as ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’, ‘Avatar’, and ‘The Hobbit’ trilogy.
In this, his first solo exhibition, Nick will showcase a collection of oil paintings and drawings commissioned over the past four years as album artwork for metal bands.
Cameo Appearance – Calling Cards of Kindness
Cameo Appearances - Calling Cards of Kindness ask visitors to pledge to be an “Ambassador of Kindness” Sandy will make a Cameo of them which they can keep along with a small stand it can sit in. With this comes an expectation that they will look for new ways to pay it forward.
Sandy will produce the cameos using her iPad and a special Fuji printer.
Avoidance
Avoidance is a project I have been working towards for the last 10 years. It uses images that I have developed since I was a teenager. In this exhibition my works look to discuss the relationship media has on our society. In my art I typically use illustrative collage, which are created with paper clippings layered over paint, the format in itself has political undertones.
Holdouts Of Te Aro
In the early 20th century Te Aro was tightly packed with tenements and workers' cottages.
This is a celebration of these survivors of decades of urban makeover in the streets surrounding Thistle Hall. There are surprisingly few holdouts left other than those restored in the nearby "heritage precinct" following the destruction much of upper Cuba St during building of the bypass.
Perfectly Round
Natalie Parker warmly invites you to attend her show, Perfectly Round. In her first solo show, Natalie will showcase a selection of beautiful paintings, drawings and prints all within the shape of the round. The show visually plays with the idea of creating the perfect art work versus leaving the work unfinished or incomplete. The result is a wonderful mix of bright contrasting works which are loose and abstract yet highly refined and detailed.
Me Looking At You, You Look At Me
'Me looking at you, you look at me' is an exhibition of illustrative portraits by Stephanie Prowse.
Inspired by pin-up beauties of the 1920's-1960's and with gold and pink in abundance, the work is fun and a little bit kitsch.
Stephanie Prowse has a love of all things vintage (especially 1920's/30's) and has a background in both Textile Design and Makeup Artistry. Her passion for both hugely influences her artwork.
Not @ Work
