This show explores ideas of migration as an earth right, belonging, the power of ancestral and new lands, and the connection between land and humanity.
There is an undisputed importance of boundaries for protecting people and their land from further colonization and conquering, as well as protecting the first people of the land—a people who universally are most connected to and respectful of the land. Simultaneously, humanity’s connection to the earth exists and is capable of flourishing regardless of boundaries and must exist in spite of consumerism, xenophobia, or a sense of strangeness.
When I am no longer where the land reared me, I will still walk dirt roads, feel grass beneath my feet, take breath from the trees and flowers, allow the strange to become familiar; and, in doing so, the ground will learn my name.
