Avoidance is a project I have been working towards for the last 10 years. It uses images that I have developed since I was a teenager. In this exhibition my works look to discuss the relationship media has on our society. In my art I typically use illustrative collage, which are created with paper clippings layered over paint, the format in itself has political undertones.
My works use symbolism which explores ideas of media and suppression through images of television screens, paper clippings and sensory bars. The works look into our western culture and consumerism as well as what it means to be part of it.
In this exhibition I have begun to branch out with use of new media forms such as print and spray paint.
