Cameo Appearances - Calling Cards of Kindness ask visitors to pledge to be an “Ambassador of Kindness” Sandy will make a Cameo of them which they can keep along with a small stand it can sit in. With this comes an expectation that they will look for new ways to pay it forward.
Sandy will produce the cameos using her iPad and a special Fuji printer.
Each day the Cameos will start populating the gallery’s walls as more people come in and contribute to this project.
“By getting people to participate in this project I am increasing the level of kindness in the community,” Sandy explains. “There are so many peopleamong us who seem disconnected or disaffected. It would be great to do something good and totally unexpected that brightens their day and connects them with others.”
“It’s about making our community a better place, bit by bit”
Pat Shepherd from One Percent Collective will be speaking at the launch. One Percent Collective is a not-for-profit Kiwi charity through which people can pledge to give 1% of their income to six authorised charities.
What real act of kindness would you do?

I have always enjoyed watching cartoons and movies from an early age. At the end of each movie I would often sit down and recreate the characters myself. This has not changed and in fact has grown and become a strong passion of mine.
I invite you to come along and experience my world through my upcoming exhibition. This is where I pay tribute to the imagery that has influenced my life and my art but with a Thai twist.

The works I produce are the results of constant observation of nature. I enjoy looking hard into trees and plants and seeing the textures that barks and leaves and lichens provide for inspiration.
The textures of barks and leaves fascinate me - their structure and formation, never finding two pieces exactly the same. I think too there is some strong influences of the moods of nature, and perhaps how those moods affect us, both as individuals and as communities.
My training as a graphic designer is easily recognisable in my work. Some have said there is also a strong Pacifica influence - subconsciously perhaps. I have always appreciated the power of ink, in art and in publishing, especially where the two meet.
